CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Spencer Gloger led a 3-point barrage that sent Princeton to a 62-44 victory over the College of Charleston on Saturday night, saddling the Cougars with their first back-to-back losses since December 1995.
Gloger, a freshman guard, used the consolation game of the Food Lion MVP Classic as a showcase for his best outing yet, a 20-point performance that included a 5-for-7 showing from beyond the 3-point arc.
Princeton (2-4) never trailed, made 12 of 27 long-range attempts and built its lead as high as 25 points.
Princeton held the Cougars (2-2) to 38-percent shooting and harassed them into 15 turnovers.
Jody Lumpkin led the College of Charleston with 11 points.
The Tigers scored the game's first 11 points, capping the run by hitting 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions. The Cougars responded with a 7-2 run to cut their deficit to six before Princeton began pulling away again.
Princeton went up by 14 twice in the half before Gloger hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to give the Tigers their biggest lead, 34-18.
The Cougars turned it over on their first three possessions of the second half, allowing Princeton to stretch it to 37-18 on yet another long-range jumper by Gloger.
The Tigers took their biggest lead at 60-35 with 2:59 remaining.
