Tigers Fall To California All-Stars In Exhibition

Rashad Tucker scored 17 points to lead the traveling California All-Stars to a 65-61 win over Princeton at Jadwin Gym Saturday night. Nate Walton and C.J. Chapman led the Tigers with 15 points apiece.
The exhibition game came 10 days before the start of the regular season, which begins Nov. 14 at second-ranked Duke (9:00, ESPN) in the opening round of the Preseason NIT.
The game against the California All-Stars was the first for Princeton under new head coach John Thompson, whose team launched 38 three-point attempts, making 11.
Princeton closed to with two at 55-53 with 3:16 to play, but former UConn center Kirk King made a layup to spark a 6-0 run that built the lead to eight with 49 seconds remaining.
Walton finished with nine rebounds and five assists, both team highs, to go with his 15 points. Freshman guard Ed Persia, who played 33 minutes, had 11 points, four rebounds and three steals while shooting 3 for 8 from three-point range. Persia was 3 for 4 in the second half.
Mike Bechtold had nine points for the Tigers, all on three-point shots.
