NEW YORK (AP) - Rashod Kent scored 12 points to lead Rutgers to a 53-39 victory over Princeton on Wednesday night in the third-place game of the ECAC Holiday Festival.
The win was the second in 12 days for the Scarlet Knights (8-3) over the Tigers (4-7) and like the first meeting - a 46-44 decision - it was Princeton's lowest point total of the season.
Rutgers used its strength and height advantage to close the first half with a 24-6 run and take a 30-14 lead. The Scarlet Knights shot 61 percent in the first half (11-for-18), while holding the Tigers to 27 percent (6-for-22) and outrebounded them 18-7.
Princeton struggled from 3-point range throughout the game, finishing 4-for-24. In its last three games against Rutgers, the Tigers are 10-for-52 from beyond the arc.
The Scarlet Knights led by as many as 21 points, the last time at 51-30 on a hook shot by Eugene Dabney with 5:25 to play.
Princeton then closed the game with a 9-2 run.
Jeff Greer had all 11 of his points in the first half for Rutgers, which lost to Hofstra 58-52 in the opening round.
Freshman Konrad Wysocki had a career-high 16 points for the Tigers, who lost 65-52 to Penn State in the opening round. Wysocki, whose previous high was 12 points against Texas Christian, also matched his career high with nine rebounds.
The Tigers played without injured starters Nathan Walton and Mike Bechtold, who are both bothered by nagging foot injuries. Walton did not dress and Bechtold was limited to three minutes and did not score.
