Princeton Claims First Place With Win Over Penn

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ahmed El-Nokali scored a career-high 17 points and Princeton took over first place in the Ivy League with a 67-53 victory over Penn on Tuesday night.
Nate Walton and Konrad Wysocki each had 12 points for the Tigers (11-8, 6-1), and C.J. Chapman added 10. Geoff Owens had 15 points for the Quakers (8-14, 5-2).
Princeton led by as many as 15 points in the first half and a 3-point shot by Chapman gave the Tigers a 42-31 lead with 6:59 to play. The Quakers closed to 43-37 on two free throws by Koko Archibong, but El-Nokali hit a driving layup and after a free throw by Owens, Kyle Wente hit a 3-point shot and the Tigers coasted the rest of the way.
Princeton jumped out to an 11-2 edge and took its biggest lead of the first half, 21-6, with 5 minutes left. Princeton led 25-13 at halftime, outrebounding the taller Quakers by a 21-13 margin. Penn made only 5-of-20 shots in the first half and committed 7 turnovers.
The meeting was the 203rd in the heated rivalry between the schools. Penn still holds a 109-94 advantage in the rivalry, which began in 1903.
