Box Score
New Haven, Conn. - Nate Walton scored 17 points and added seven rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead Princeton to a 60-49 win over Yale at a sold-out John J. Lee Amphitheatre Friday night.
Princeton's win, coupled with Brown's 85-77 win over Pennsylvania, left Princeton alone in first place in the Ivy League, one game ahead of Brown and Penn and two games ahead of Yale. Princeton can clinch the league title Saturday night with a win at Brown coupled with a Yale win over Penn. At the same time, Princeton can still find itself in a two-way or three-way tie for first by the end of Saturday night.
The loss did not eliminate Yale, though the only chance the Bulldogs still have is for a four-way tie.
Princeton never trailed in the game. Twice, once in the first half and once in the second, Yale cut a double-figure Tiger lead to one, but Princeton regrouped each time. Princeton led 35-34 with 14:08 to go before a Kyle Wente three-pointer started a 15-5 run that made it an 11-point game with six minutes left.
The Tigers then salted the game away at the line, shooting 6 for 6 in the final minute.
Mike Bechtold scored 10 points for Princeton, while Andre Logan added nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Konrad Wysocki and Kyle Wente had eight points each.
Neil Yanke led Yale with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
