An MRI test conducted Monday afternoon confirmed for Andre Logan what had already been suspected: The injury he suffered Friday night at Harvard is a torn ACL in his left knee.
Logan will miss the remainder of the season.
Logan was injured late in the first half of Friday night's 50-48 win over the Crimson. He landed awkwardly on his knee and limped up the court before coming out of the game. An examination by the Harvard team doctor after the game suggested the torn ACL, and that proved to be the case when the MRI was done Monday.
"It's a big loss," said Princeton coach John Thompson. "He's definitely one of our best players, and he has a big impact on our team. He was playing very well at the time. Plus, he's an outstanding young man. We all feel badly for him."
Logan, who had scored seven points against Harvard in the first 15 minutes of the game, was Princeton's second-leading scorer at 9.3 points per game. He was also shooting 57% from the field and was second on the team in rebounding.
A sophomore from Brooklyn, Logan had started 28 of Princeton's last 29 games, including all 14 Ivy League games and the NCAA tournament game of a year ago, when Logan scored eight points in Princeton's loss to North Carolina in the opening round.
Ray Robins took Logan's place in the starting lineup Saturday night at Dartmouth and led the Tigers with 14 points in a 57-46 win.
Princeton is tied with Yale and Brown in first place in the Ivy League at 2-0 after the weekend sweep. The Tigers are off until Jan. 28 for first semester exams. When they return, eight of their next 10 games will be at Jadwin Gym.
