Princeton men's basketball coach Joe Scott announced today that junior Max Schafer (Wayne, N.J./De Paul Catholic HS) has left the team, effective immediately.
Schafer, a 6-2, 200-lb. guard, played in three games this season and averaged better than 12 minutes per game. He played a season-high 22 minutes against Lehigh Nov. 20.
"I've had to leave the team for personal reasons," said Schafer. "The coaching staff has been extremely helpful and accessible throughout the process."
He played in 25 games as a sophomore, averaging better than 18 minutes per game, and 28 games as a freshman, starting the final six games of the 2003-04 season.
Schafer averaged 2.5 points per game in 56 career games.
