Women's Hockey Drops Tight Game at Dartmouth 2-1

Hanover, N.H. - Despite a strong third period in which the Tigers held a 14-5 shot advantage, No. 3 Dartmouth held on for a 2-1 win over the ninth-ranked Princeton men's hockey team Saturday afternoon at Thompson Arena. Senior Becky Stewart scored in the third period to bring the Tigers within a goal, but Princeton could not find the equalizer as the Big Green held on for the win.
Dartmouth went ahead early when Katie Weatherston scored an unassisted goal 2:41. Dartmouth controlled the first period holding a 10-4 edge in shots. The Big Green made it 2-0 in the second when Carrie Thompson scored from Alana BreMiller and Caroline Ethier. Shots were even at eight apiece in the second period.
The Tigers scored the only goal of the third period when Stewart scored on the power-play from freshman Brittany Salmon.
Dartmouth outshot Princeton 26-23 in the game. Junior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel made 24 saves in the Tiger net, while Dartmouth's Kate Lane stopped 22 shots.
Princeton fell to 14-7-5 overall and 8-6-3 in the league. The Tigers remain tied for fifth in the standings as Brown also lost. Colgate defeated Union and is also tied for fifth.
The Tigers visit Yale on Wednesday night.
