Box Score
April Brown scored a natural hat trick in the second period as women's hockey (15-8-5 overall, 9-7-3 ECACHL) dominated Union (5-26-1, 0-19-0) 9-1 on Friday at Baker Rink.
Princeton did not waste much time getting on the board. Tarah Clark notched the first goal of the game at 1:10 of the first period when she punched home a rebound off the post.
The Dutchwomen hung around after that, skating scoreless with the Tigers for over 10 minutes, but Princeton tallied three scores in the final nine minutes of the first to give itself a comfortable cushion.
Brown, playing in her final games at Baker Rink this weekend, found her stride when the second period started. A rebound from a shot by fellow senior Becky Stewart rolled to Brown's stick, and Brown easily slung it past the fallen Union goaltender. Brown also scored on a shorthanded chance four minutes later, then completed the hat trick with an even strength goal just 1:17 after that. Brittany Salmon later scored to give the Tigers an 8-0 cushion after two periods.
Union's Ashley Kilstein ruined the shutout bid with a goal at 6:51 of the third, but Princeton's Sarah Butsch iced the game with a goal at 12:51.
Roxanne Gaudiel needed just four saves in the first period to secure her 14th win of the season. Rebecca Allen played the final two periods and made five saves.
Princeton plays its final regular season game tomorrow at 4 pm against Union at Baker Rink.
