UConn Shuts Out Princeton 2-0

STORRS, Conn. -- Lizzy Peijs gave 10th-ranked Connecticut a 1-0 lead 2:27 into Saturday's game and held on the rest of the way for a 2-0 win over the Princeton field hockey team on Saturday afternoon.
UConn jumped ahead on its second shot of the game when Peijs scored her 12th goal of the season. The goal was all the Huskies would need as they held Princeton scoreless the whole way before Lauren Aird added an insurance goal with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Princeton managed six shots in the game, three of which were on goal. Freshman Tina Bortz accounted for two shots, while sophomores Katie Kinzer and Holly McGarvie also had shots on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Allison Nemeth made eight saves in the Princeton goal, while Briana Koza had three for UConn. The Huskies outshot Princeton 19-6 and had 11 more corners than Princeton.
Princeton hosts top-ranked Maryland on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The game will televised on CSTV tape delayed.
