Koncz, Savage Named Team Captains For Princeton Men's Basketball
October 27, 2007 | Men's Basketball
Princeton head coach Sydney Johnson has announced that senior forwards Kyle Koncz and Noah Savage have been named team captains for the Princeton men's basketball team in 2007-08.
“I'm extremely happy to have Noah and Kyle as our co-captains this season,” Johnson says. “Our five seniors have dedicated themselves to representing our program admirably in all aspects, and Noah and Kyle lead the way in that regard. I expect challenges for this team this year, and I also expect that our co-captains will never hesitate to face any challenge that comes our way.”
Koncz was Princeton's leading scorer in 2006-07 despite suffering a foot injury that limited his play during the Ivy League season. He enters the 2007-08 season with 101 career three-pointers, already among the top 15 all-time at Princeton.
“It's a great honor to be named captain for a program with such rich tradition as Princeton basketball,” says Koncz. “I have worked very hard to achieve this and will continue to exhibit the same work ethic to help this team achieve success on and off the court.”
Savage has played in every game but one in his first three seasons at Princeton and was the Tigers' leading scorer as a sophomore. He enters the year with 109 career three-point shots, 12th all-time on the Princeton list.
Being named captain is a huge honor,” Savage says. “I'm extremely grateful for it, and it's an honor to join such a prestigious list of men who were captains of Princeton basketball.”
Princeton begins its 2007-08 season Nov. 11 against Central Connecticut at Jadwin Gym.
