Justin Conway Named To First-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

Princeton men's basketball player Justin Conway has been named a first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection in voting announced Thursday by the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee.
Conway, a senior and sociology major at Princeton, was one of five first-team selections from the University Division of District II, which includes all NCAA Division I institutions in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. His selection on the all-district team makes him eligible for national CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which wiill be announced later in the season.
A Santa Fe, N.M., native and Princeton's team captain in 2006-07, Conway has started 15 games for the 9-9 Tigers this season and is averaging 6.9 points, 2.5 assists and a team-high 3.6 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 16 points in Princeton's win at Iona and had 15 points and six rebounds in a win over VMI.
A former walk-on to the Princeton program who played in just one game his first two seasons, the 6-4 Conway has started 28 of the last 31 games for Princeton and has averaged nearly eight points, four rebounds and three assists per game in that time. He was an honorable mention All-Ivy League selection for the Tigers in 2005-06 after averaging nine points, four rebounds and three assists in Ivy League play.
This past summer, Conway worked with Princeton's Community-Based Learning Initiative (CBLI) as an intern at Trenton's Mount Carmel Guild, an organization which provides emergency assistance, preschool education and home health care services to poor residents.
Conway joins Penn's Steve Danley, Bucknell's Chris McNaughton, West Virginia's Alex Ruoff and Duquesne's Kieron Achara as first-team District II honorees. Three other Ivy League players earned first-team all-district honors in District I: Harvard's Jim Goffredo, Cornell's Graham Dow and Columbia's Ben Nwachukwu.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America programs honor student-athletes in 12 different sports. Nominees must be starters or significant reserves on their teams, have at least sophomore standing and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20.
