Sixth-Ranked Men's Heavies Host No. 7 Brown on Saturday
May 03, 2007 | Heavyweight Rowing
Princeton, coming off of a tough two-second loss to Yale, looks to shore up against Brown in the Content Cup race today for a good momentum heading into the Eastern Men's Sprints next weekend. It will be another competitive race on Lake Carnegie, as Princeton's varsity eight is currently ranked third and Brown is ranked fourth in the latest EARC Heavyweight poll. Nationally, Princeton and Brown are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.
The race - the only one of the weekend for the Princeton crew program - starts at 9:20 a.m. The full racing schedule can be found at the end of the story.
The Orange and Black currently hold the Content Cup after besting the then-No. 4 Bears by five seconds last year, while Brown took the second varsity, varsity four, and novice races. Princeton and Brown are nearly even in the history of the Cup, which was inaugurated in 1994, with Princeton holding the slight 7-6 advantage.
While the Tigers raced against Yale and Cornell last weekend, the Bears traveled to New Hampshire and swept Dartmouth for the Atalanta Cup.
Princeton travels to Worcester, Mass., next Sunday (May 13) for the Eastern Men's Sprints. The Tigers will enter the race as the defending champions.
