Game Notes
Bear market: Brown lost its first 34 games in Jadwin Gym until breaking the long losing streak in 2003. Counting that game, Brown has won four of the last six in Jadwin, in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008. All told, Brown is 36-4 in Jadwin Gym.
'Dogs' house: Yale has won the last two games in Jadwin Gym, ending a 13-season Princeton win streak on campus. Yale won in 1986, 1987, 1992 and 1993 in addition to the last two seasons since Jadwin opened in 1969.
Last time vs. Yale: The Bulldogs hassled Princeton on the boards Feb. 13 at Yale in a 60-48 Bulldog win. Yale outrebounded Princeton 43-23 in what was the largest rebounding deficit for the Tigers since December 2005. Eleven Bulldogs got rebounds, but Ross Morin was the main culprit with 10 boards to go with his 10 points. Alex Zampier led all scorers with 13 points while Douglas Davis was the high Tiger with 11.
Johnson vs. Yale, Brown: Princeton head coach Sydney Johnson has a 6-5 record against Brown overall and 0-3 as Princeton's head coach. He has an 8-3 record vs. Yale including 0-3 as a head coach.
Johnson vs. Agel, Jones: Sydney Johnson is 4-3 against James Jones all-time. Johnson's teams won all four meetings his junior and senior seasons with Jones as a Yale assistant, and Jones won both meetings last season with the two as head coaches. Johnson is 0-3 against Agel, with two Agel wins last season as a Brown assistant to go with his win this year in his first meeting with Princeton as a head coach.
Good shooting, bad result: Princeton shot a season-high .590 last Saturday against Dartmouth but ended up on the losing end, 66-63.
More accurate: Princeton's shooting percentage has climbed in each of the last five games.
Good help: If Princeton is able to reach 10 assists Friday, it would be the first time all season the Tigers have had at least 10 assists in six straight games.
Route 66: Dartmouth's 66 points were the highest for an opponent at Jadwin Gym since the Dec. 2 game vs. South Carolina (84).
No help: Dartmouth won last Saturday despite having a Princeton opponent season-low three assists. Princeton's opponents have had fewer than 10 assists on 14 occasions this season.
Out-threed: The Brown game Feb. 14 was just the second time this season that Princeton's opponent has made more three-pointers than the Tigers.
Our seniors: Jason Briggs and Mike Strittmatter will be honored prior to the Yale game Saturday, their final contest on Carril Court. Strittmatter has played in 64 career games entering the weekend, playing in 60 of them as a reserve. Briggs has played in 22 games this season, equaling the number he played in his first three seasons. He also has more assists (19) and steals (11) this season than he had in his first three seasons combined (18 assists, eight steals).
Douglas does it: Rookie Douglas Davis had a nice shooting weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth, hitting 10 of 13 shots (.769). His 16 points against Dartmouth were his most since 19 at Harvard Jan. 31
Mavraides makes it: Dan Mavraides' 19 points against Dartmouth were his most since Jan. 31 at Harvard. After a stretch in which he hit double-digits in 7 of 8 games from Dec. 20 to Feb. 6, Mavraides will be looking Friday for his first back-to-back double-digit scoring performances since.
Stritts and starts: Mike Strittmatter's start vs. Dartmouth was his first start since Jan. 14, 2006 against Cornell.
Buckets for Buczak: Pawel Buczak's 11 points, on 5 of 6 shooting, were his most since his 15-point performance against Cornell Feb. 6.
A 4-loss champ?: It's happened before, but not for a while. A 10-4 team last won the Ivy League in 1987, when current Penn assistant Perry Bromwell and the Quakers won it over 9-5 teams from Princeton and Cornell. It was the last of four straight years in which the Ivy winner was 10-4. Outside of 1984-87, the Ivy champ was 10-4 only in its first season of 1959 when Dartmouth won.
