Men's Basketball Releases 2009-10 Schedule
June 29, 2009 | Men's Basketball
PRINCETON -- Twenty-eight games played in 12 states against teams from 10 conferences highlight the 2009-10 Princeton men's basketball schedule.
Two notes to remember when reading the schedule are that the dates and sites for the two games against Penn have not been decided, and all dates and times are subject to change.
The Tigers will return games against Central Michigan, UNC Greensboro and Maine along with a trip to regional rival Rutgers. Teams coming to Jadwin Gymnasium after hosting the Tigers a year ago include Manhattan, Army and Lafayette. Teams that were not on Princeton's schedule last season include George Washington (away), California (away), Monmouth (home), Wagner (home), Saint Joseph's (away) and Marist (away).
The opponent for Princeton's annual post-finals break game, typically a Division II or III opponent, has not been decided.
As with last season, Princeton will play two teams from among the "big six" conferences, traveling to California of the Pacific-10 Conference for a Nov. 29 game and Rutgers of the Big East on Dec. 9. The Tigers also have two Atlantic 10 teams on the slate, visiting George Washington on Nov. 24 and Saint Joseph's on Jan. 2, 2010.
Princeton will begin its 2009-10 season a year to the date, and against the same team, as it began its 2008-09 slate when it meets Central Michigan on Nov. 14. This time, however, the game will be in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
Princeton made a seven-win improvement overall and a five-win jump in Ivy League play from 2007-08 to 2008-09, finishing 13-14 overall and a second-place 8-6 in the Ivy.
