PRINCETON -- A pair of Princeton alumni have wrapped up their competition in the Italian Serie A league's semifinals with one moving on and another calling it a season.
Mason Rocca '00 wasn't able to play due to a knee injury that has kept him out of the postseason, but his Armani Jeans Milano team won a best-of-five series 3-1 over Angelico Biella, wrapping it up Thursday, June 4.
Judson Wallace '05 played in all three games of his Benetton Treviso team's series against Montepaschi Siena, but Benetton Treviso lost the three games. Wallace averaged 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in the series with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) in game two.
Wallace is in this clip from Game 1 wearing No. 18 in green. Here is a clip of Rocca from a regular season game in March in which the commentator notes that Rocca was Milan's MVP of the game with 18 points and nine rebounds.
It was announced on June 5 by Eurobasket.com that the Web site had selected Wallace as a second-team all-league in Serie A and for a place on the All-Import (non-Italian native) team. In a small-world coincidence, alongside Wallace on the second team was a two-season foe from Penn, Ibrahim Jaaber.
Wallace was a teammate of current Princeton assistant coach Scott Greenman '06, while Rocca played alongside both head coach Sydney Johnson '97 and assistant coach Brian Earl '99.
The Serie A finals will begin Wednesday, June 10 for Rocca's team in a best-of-seven format.
