PRINCETON ? Armond Hill '85 has won induction into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame, the organization recently announced.
Induction will take place Sept. 24 at the New York Athletic Club. Honorees come from those who played high school or college basketball in New York City, and Hill is an alumnus of Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School in Brooklyn.
Hill, a two-time first-team All-Ivy League honoree and the 1976 Ivy League Player of the Year, returned to Princeton to complete his degree in 1985 after his professional basketball career.
Hill then embarked on a coaching career that began at the Lawrenceville School as an assistant coach and then as head coach. In 1991, Hill was reunited with Pete Carril as an assistant coach until 1995, when he earned his first collegiate head coaching position at Columbia.
Hill remained at Columbia until 2003, when he joined the Atlanta Hawks as an assistant coach for one season before moving on to the Boston Celtics. Hill helped coach the Celtics to an NBA title in 2008.
