-Princeton is coming off a 52-50 loss at Maine Monday night. The Tigers flew back from Maine Tuesday morning and bussed to Marist Tuesday night for their final game before the exam break begins.
-Against Maine, Princeton won the shooting percentage statistic 34.0 percent to 31.6 percent but lost on the glass, 36-29. Princeton is 2-4 this season when getting outrebounded.
-Princeton's loss to Maine snapped a five-game winning streak. With wins against Marist and Goucher, however, Princeton would reach nine victories before the Ivy season begins, their most in the pre-conference schedule since 2006-07.
-Princeton and Marist have never met, though the teams have two common opponents this season. Both teams lost to Rutgers on the road and defeated Manhattan at home. Marist will face Manhattan again next month.
-Both head coaches in Wednesday's game had a Final Four game as their last contest before becoming collegiate head coaches. Sydney Johnson reached the Final Four with Georgetown in 2007 before gaining his first collegiate head coaching position, while Marist coach Chuck Martin was an assistant at Memphis, which reached the national final in 2008 before Martin moved to Poughkeepsie.
-Princeton has played in Poughkeepsie just once, and long before the McCann Field House opened in 1977. During the 1942-43 season, Princeton won in double overtime over Army, 47-41, in Poughkeepsie.
-Assistant coach Tony Newsom played two games in McCann Field House during his collegiate career. Marist didn't join Niagara in the MAAC until 1995, but Newsom and the Purple Eagles played in Marist's holiday tournament on Dec. 29-30, 1991, defeating Dartmouth and losing to Colgate.
-The loss to Maine was Princeton's first this season when it outshot its opponent from the field. Princeton is now 4-1 this season when it has a better field goal percentage than its opponent.
-Princeton is now 4-2 this season when it posts a higher three-point field-goal percentage than its opponent. Before Maine, the lone loss was at California in November.
-Princeton is 5-0 when it scores more than 60 points this season.
-Princeton is 4-0 this season when it leads at the half, 2-5 when it trails, and 1-0 when it is tied.
-Princeton ranked No. 6 in Division I in scoring defense entering the week. By holding Maine to 52 points, the Tigers lowered their average from 56.9 points allowed to 56.5. Marist has been held to below Princeton's average six times this season.
-In addition to being ranked No. 1 in the Ivy League in scoring defense, the Tigers are also ranked No. 1 in rebounding defense at 32.6 rebounds allowed per game.
-Season highs were tough to come by at Maine. Only three Tigers could claim one, with Kareem Maddox getting his first assist of the season, Patrick Saunders tying a career high with four free throws and Dan Mavraides playing 40 minutes for the first time this season.
-Princeton is now 7-2 when Dan Mavraides reaches double digits in scoring. Princeton's other records when players score at least 10 points are: Nick Lake (0-1), Douglas Davis (4-3), Patrick Saunders (1-2), Zach Finley (2-0), Ian Hummer (2-1) and Pawel Buczak (2-0).
-The Tigers are 3-0 when either of their centers, Pawel Buczak or Zach Finley, score in double digits. Finley scored 13 in the season-opening win at Central Michigan, while Buczak's 14 points helped the Tigers to a win at Saint Joseph's last weekend. Both players reached double digits in the comeback win over Manhattan in November.
-Nick Lake scored six points on two three-pointers after he entered the game with 53 seconds left at Maine Monday in his only action of the contest. The appearance saw Lake get his first points and first rebound since the Army game in November. Lake was a 31.3 percent shooter (5 for 16) from distance this season before burying both of his attempts against Maine.
-Despite averaging 31.2 minutes a game, Douglas Davis had never been called for more than two fouls in a game this season until the Maine game, when he was whistled four times. The Maine game saw Princeton's largest foul disparity of the season with 23 for the Tigers and 12 for Maine.
-Marcus Schroeder holds several high rankings in Ivy League statistical categories, all entering Jan. 5, including assist-to-turnover ratio (1st, 2.1), minutes played (2nd, 35.8), steals (3rd, 2.3 spg), assists (7th, 3.0 apg) and rebounds (18th, 4.0 rpg). Entering the week, Schroeder ranked No. 38 in Division I in steals per game.
-Douglas Davis is the No. 9-ranked scorer in the Ivy League at 13.2 points per game. He also ranks fourth in free-throw percentage at 84.4 percent and fifth in threes made per game (2.1).
-Sophomore Douglas Davis stands at 491 career points, ahead of senior Marcus Schroeder (468) and behind senior Zach Finley (536) on the active career scoring list.
-Dan Mavraides ranks 11th in the Ivy League in scoring at 12.1 points per game. He also ranks 12th in rebounding (4.8 rpg), ninth in free-throw percentage (79.4 percent), sixth in threes made per game (2.0) and sixth in defensive rebounds per game at 3.9.
-Pawel Buczak and Ian Hummer also appear on the Ivy statistical rankings, with Buczak standing fifth in offensive rebounds at 1.9 per game and 20th in overall rebounding at 3.9 per game. Hummer is ninth in blocked shots at 0.7 per game.
-Patrick Saunders hit all four free throws in Monday's tight game at Maine and has made all six this season. Saunders and Nick Lake are the only Tigers who have stepped to the line this year and have remained perfect, with Lake standing at 2 for 2.
-Zach Finley has scored in back-to-back games, at Saint Joseph's and Maine, for the first time since Nov. 29-Dec. 3 at California and Rutgers.
-Dan Mavraides is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game in the last four contests. In the first eight games, Mavraides averaged 3.8 rebounds per game.
