#2 Open Crew Completes Perfect Ivy League Season, Moves To 11-0 Overall

The second-ranked Princeton open crew continued to show both its first varsity power and overall team depth in a victory over Penn, Dartmouth and Bucknell in the annual Class of 1984 Plaque regatta, held Saturday morning on Lake Carnegie.
The Tigers, which moved to second in the national polls following last weekend's sweep of then-No. 1 Virginia and Yale, won each of the three NCAA races by more than 10 seconds; the first varsity race determined The Class of 1984 Plaque, and Princeton was not about to suffer a letdown after last weekend. The Tigers completed their perfect Ivy season with a winning time of 6:25.6, while Dartmouth placed second in 6:40.0.
The second varsity eight, which also swept last weekend and has been remarkably strong throughout the season, took its race with a winning time of 6:39.3. Bucknell finished second in 6:52.0, while the nearest Ivy League team (Penn) finished more than 20 seconds behind Princeton.
When the latest EAWRC poll was announced last week, there were two Princeton teams atop the poll. The first varsity was one of them, and the varsity four was the other. That shouldn't change next week, as the varsity four claimed victory in 7:37.2, while Dartmouth finished second in 7:50.2.
Bucknell won a tight race with Princeton in the third varsity competition in a time of 7:18.2, which was less than two seconds ahead of Princeton.
The Tigers will look to complete their first perfect regular season since 2006 next weekend when it hosts Tennessee. The regatta will begin at 11:15, following the men's lightweight showdown with Harvard and Yale; the open first varsity race will begin at 12:15.
