Men's Basketball 2010-11 Schedule Announced
August 10, 2010 | Men's Basketball
The historical note comes with the announcement of the new season's schedule, which includes eight games against teams that played in the postseason last spring.
On Nov. 12 in Jadwin Gym, Princeton will begin the follow-up to a campaign that saw the Tigers advance to the postseason for the first time since 2004 and earn two postseason wins for the first time since 1999 as the team won its way to the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational.
Rutgers will be the first opponent on Princeton's slate, two days before the Tigers head to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a game against defending NCAA champion Duke on Nov. 14 to begin a four-game run in the CBE Classic. James Madison will host the next three Princeton games, first against the host Dukes on Nov. 22, then against Bucknell on Nov. 23, and finally against Presbyterian on Nov. 24.
The Tigers will have four more home games in the pre-Ivy League portion of the schedule, on Nov. 28 against Siena, on Dec. 5 against Saint Joseph's, on Jan. 5 against Marist, and on Jan. 23 in the traditional Division II/III game against an opponent to be announced.
Between those home contests, Princeton will travel to Lafayette on Nov. 30, Monmouth on Dec. 8, Tulsa on Dec. 12, Wagner on Dec. 17 and Towson on Dec. 22. The 2010 portion of the schedule will culminate with a trip to Central Florida to compete in the UCF Holiday Classic, first against Northeastern on Dec. 29 and then against either Furman or UCF on Dec. 30.
In addition to Duke among the postseason participants on Princeton's non-league schedule, Tulsa and Northeastern made the NIT last spring, while Siena earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The familiar form of the Ivy League slate will get underway on Jan. 28 and 29 when Princeton hosts Brown and Yale, getting the first two league weekends at home.
In an important note, the date for the home game against Penn has been tentatively set for Feb. 8. GoPrincetonTigers.com will announce when the date has been confirmed.
Siena will be just one of three 2010 postseason opponents to play in Jadwin Gym in the coming season, with NCAA Tournament two-game winner Cornell coming in on Feb. 25 and CollegeInsider.com Tournament participant Harvard visiting on Feb. 4.
Season tickets are expected to go on sale in late September with single-game tickets following soon after. Specific on-sale dates will be announced when available on GoPrincetonTigers.com.
