Men's Basketball to Honor '91 Team at Saturday's Game
February 26, 2011 | Men's Basketball
In the annual Legacy Night event, the Friends of Princeton Basketball will honor the 1990-91 team prior to and at halftime of Saturday's 6 p.m. game against Columbia.
The 1990-91 Tigers, coached by Hall of Famer Pete Carril, finished 24-3 overall and a perfect 14-0 in the Ivy League. Not long after starting the season 7-0, the Tigers won 16 straight games, including a post-Ivy contest against 1990 Elite Eight team Loyola Marymount that drew more than 7,000 fans to Jadwin Gym and was televised on CBS.
The team boasted the second-leading scorer in program history in Kit Mueller '91 and one of the top 3-point shooters of the past quarter-century in Sean Jackson '92.
The pregame festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with comments from Princeton athletic director Gary Walters '67, team member and current President of the Friends of Princeton Basketball Jim Lane '92 and head coach Sydney Johnson '97. A Princeton Varsity Club reception will begin at 5 p.m.
