Hummer, Maddox Earn NABC All-District Honors
March 09, 2011 | Men's Basketball
Princeton sophomore forward Ian Hummer and senior forward Kareem Maddox have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches' All-District team for their outstanding seasons in 2010-11.
The pair helped Princeton to its league-record 26th Ivy League title and first since 2004, clinching that crown Tuesday night with a 70-58 win at Penn, the team's third straight at The Palestra, marking the first time that has happened since 1997-99.
Maddox, who was chosen as one of five players on the NABC All-District 13 second team, lifted himself into the team's leading scorer status with 23 points at Penn, now averaging 14.0 on the year along with his team-best 6.9 rebounds per game. Maddox also leads the team in blocks, with 52 on the season, in field goal percentage at .575, and is second in assists, with 74.
Hummer, who was one of five named to the NABC all-district first team, was Princeton's leading scorer for much of the season until last night, now just behind Maddox at 13.9 points per game. Hummer is second on the team in steals at 34, second in blocks at 34, third in assists with 60, second in rebounding at 6.7 per game and second in field goal percentage at .556.
There are 24 NABC districts nationally. All of the players on the District 13 teams were from Ivy League or Patriot League schools. Hummer and Maddox are now in the pool of 245 honorees for selection to the State Farm Coaches' Division I All-America teams to be announced Final Four weekend in Houston.
