Mitch Henderson's First 60 Days

After being announced as the new head coach of Princeton men's basketball on April 20, 2011, Mitch Henderson '98 didn't wait long to make appearances around the region. Here is a look back at Henderson's first 60 days on the job.
"As soon as I accepted this position, it was important to me to do all I could to help get the word out about Princeton basketball," Henderson said. "People are aware of the great tradition we have that stretches back decades, but our program needs to stay engaged with the public in order to keep that great tradition going well into the future."

Henderson and the Princeton Tiger had a chance to meet by Firestone Library at Communiversity on April 30.
On May 5, Henderson visited the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce's luncheon and met with Princeton University's Director of Community and Regional Affairs, Kristin S. Appelget.
Henderson and women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart stopped by the Ivy League Championship Series on May 7 to support the Princeton baseball team as they went on to defeat Dartmouth for the league title.
Henderson and new head men's hockey coach Bob Prier met after Prier was introduced on May 9 in the Class of 1956 Lounge.
Henderson was one of 10 college basketball coaches recognized at Yankee Stadium prior to the game against the Kansas City Royals on May 11 for their work with Coaches vs. Cancer.
The following day, May 12, Henderson was among a group of coaches who got the opportunity to ring the closing bell at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange as part of their work with Coaches vs. Cancer. Following the bell ringing, Henderson and his coaching counterparts visited a capital firm and made calls in support of Coaches vs. Cancer before enjoying a reception event at the Nasdaq building.
Henderson had a chance to fine tune his golf game in the 2011 Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Golf and Tennis Outing at Trenton Country Club on May 16. While on the course, Henderson had a chance to catch up with Trenton Thunder GM and CEO Will Smith.
Following a solid day of golf on May 16, Henderson had a chance to interact with members of the Princeton business community at the post-golf reception. Henderson and Kevin Tylus, Regional President for PNC Bank, a proud corporate partner for Princeton Athletics, exchanged golf tips.
Henderson spoke to the Rotary of Princeton about his coaching philosophy and some of his major influences in his life before taking questions from a very interactive audience at the Nassau Club on May 24.
On May 26, prior to the 14th PVC Awards Banquet, Henderson and Princeton University President Shirley Tilghman got a chance to talk about the men's basketball program.
On May 27, during the Annual Friends of Princeton basketball event held in Caldwell Plaza, Henderson had a chance to catch up with old teammates and talk about his vision for Princeton basketball.
Henderson and Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett '89 met during the Ninth Annual Starfish Charities football camp held on campus on June 18.
