Derek Jones to Serve as Men's Basketball Play-by-Play Broadcaster
October 24, 2012 | Men's Basketball
Derek Jones, who has served as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Princeton women's basketball team over the past five seasons, will serve in the same capacity for the Princeton men's basketball team beginning this season.
Jones, the assistant station manager at Rowan University's WGLS-FM since 2002, has worked with Princeton since 2004 when he began fill-in work with the women's team. He will call the Tigers' games on WPRB 103.3 FM and online at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
Since beginning his work at Princeton, Jones has broadcasted all three of the women's team's NCAA Tournament appearances over the last three seasons. He has also filled in with the men's team, most recently for last December's game at Drexel.
While Noah Savage '08 will continue to serve as color analyst, Jones replaces John Sadak, who has served as the lead men's announcer for the last five seasons and will continue in a fill-in role.
Jones earned a bachelor's degree at Rowan in radio, TV and film in 2001 and a master's degree in public relations from the Glassboro, N.J., school in 2002.
