Maddox '11 Heads to England to Continue Pro Career
August 15, 2012 | Men's Basketball
Kareem Maddox '11, a catalyst on Princeton's 2011 Ivy League Champion men's basketball team, will head to England to continue his professional career.
Last season, Maddox played in the Netherlands' pro league for Landstede Basketbal in the town of Zwolle, Netherlands. For 2012-13, he'll head to northeast England to play for the defending champion of the 13-team British Basketball League, the Newcastle Eagles.
Maddox, who won the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2011 and was a first-team All-Ivy League honoree, helped Princeton return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004 and take eventual Final Four team Kentucky down to the last play before a two-point defeat in the teams' first NCAA game.
Maddox is the third member of the 2010-11 team to play professionally, while Douglas Davis '12 recently signed to play in Germany and Dan Mavraides '11 played last season in Greece.
