23-37: The Tigers struggled from the free throw line, making just 62.2 percent. Butler did a bit better, going 19-26 for a 73.1 percent clip.

Butler's Kellen Dunham hit a 3-pointer less than two minutes into the second half that put the Bulldogs up eight at 39-31. It was the first of six straight points Dunham scored as Butler gained its first double-digit lead of the game.

• The Tigers had a chance to tie or take the lead with 13 seconds left, down 69-67, but Denton Koon's layup try rimmed out and Butler hit one free throw at the other end. • The Tigers were looking to improve to 2-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 season, but will instead start 1-1 for the second straight year and third in the last four. • The loss snapped a two-game winning streak that Princeton had in the state of Indiana, winning CBI games at IUPUI in 2010 and Evansville in 2012. • Butler moved to 3-0 in the series, winning again 51 years after the teams' last meeting in 1962. • Princeton had just two field goals over the last 10 minutes of the first half, but trailed only 33-31 at the break. • Princeton's largest lead was four points, which last occurred at 16-12 with less than seven minutes to go in the game. From a 20-17 Tiger lead, Butler put together a 10-0 run over four minutes to take a 27-20 lead more than six minutes before halftime. • Princeton clawed within 52-49 with 11 minutes left, but Butler answered with a 10-3 run to push the lead back to 10 at 62-52 three minutes later. • After Butler led 67-56 with less than six minutes to go, Princeton went on an 11-2 run to make it 69-67 inside of the final minute, but the Tigers couldn't find that last basket. • Denton Koon led Princeton with 21 points. It was two off his career high of 23 set Feb. 22, 2013 at Columbia. • Denton Koon also led Princeton with 17 points last time out against Florida A&M. The 38 points are his most over a two-game span in the junior's career. • Hans Brase had one double-double in his freshman season last year and has already matched that total with a double-double against Butler (15 pts, 11 reb). • Princeton's 37 free throw tries were its most since getting 40 tries in a 63-53 win over Columbia on Feb. 12, 2005 at Jadwin Gym. The last time Princeton had as many free throw attempts on the road was Feb. 3, 1984 at Brown, going 24-37. • Princeton's 134 points through its first two games are its most through two regulation games 2003-04 season, when it scored 134 in wins over Colgate and Holy Cross. Princeton had 138 points against Rutgers and Duke to open the 2010-11 season, but the Rutgers game went to overtime.

Princeton will host Lafayette (0-2) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Jadwin Gym. The teams have met 65 times including the series opener in 1901, and the Tigers have won the last four meetings.
