L 83-66 • Box Score Wednesday night in Easton, the Tigers couldn't hold Lafayette, which had all five starters in double figures and shot 54.7 percent from the field. That wasn't too far ahead of Princeton's even 50 percent, but the Tigers committed 17 turnovers to Lafayette's seven. Spencer Weisz led the Tigers with a career-best 19 points for the sophomore in defeat.

• Princeton and Incarnate Word will meet for the first time. The Tigers will be UIW's first Division I opponent of the season after the Cardinals handled Division III Texas-Tyler and NAIA Huston-Tillotson.
• UIW is coming to Princeton from San Antonio and will be the furthest opponent to visit Princeton since Wyoming came to Jadwin Gym on Dec. 10, 2005.
• The Lone Star State will be well represented Saturday, with 10 of UIW's players coming from Texas and two of Princeton's, including Dallas-area natives Jackson Forbes and Daniel Edwards.
• Over the first three games last season, 211 of 600 minutes went to freshmen and sophomores for the Tigers. Over the first three games this season, 350 of 600 minutes have gone to freshmen and sophomores.
• Princeton's opponents have shot at least 43 percent from the field in each of the first three games this season with a high of 54.7 percent last time out against Lafayette. Princeton has shot 44 percent or better in two of the three games, but the 33.9 percent clip against George Mason cost the team, as has its turnovers. Princeton's low turnover total so far this season was 11 at George Mason and the high was 17 at Lafayette, also a big factor when the Tigers only turned Lafayette over seven times.
• Of Princeton's 190 points so far, 161, or 83.7 percent, have been scored by non-seniors. Princeton's top four scorers are non-seniors, and three of those are sophomores (Weisz, Cook, Miller).
• Hans Brase has hit 12 3-pointers so far this season, accounting for almost half of the team's total of 28. He's more than a third of the way to his total from last season of 34.
• Spencer Weisz has accounted for 19 of the team's 44 made free throws and 23 of its 58 attempts. He also leads the Ivy League (through Wednesday's games) in minutes per game at 37.0.
• Spencer Weisz and Hans Brase account for 49 percent of Princeton's points this season.
• Seven players (Weisz, Brase, Miller, Cook, Hazel, Wilson, Bell) have accounted for 189 of the team's 190 points and 559 of the team's 600 minutes.
• Princeton coach Mitch Henderson is presently ninth on the program's all-time wins list, but seventh place isn't far off. He's now at 59 wins, behind predecessor Sydney Johnson (66) and John Thompson III (68). Both are fellow Tiger alumni, Johnson (head coach from 2007-11) in the Class of 1997 and Thompson (head coach from 2000-04) in the Class of 1988.
• In 58 Ivy League seasons, Princeton has posted 52 winning Ivy seasons, four 7-7 finishes and just two losing records.
 |
• Incarnate Word is in its second year in Division I and is a member of the Southland Conference. The 2012-13 season was its last in Division II, where it was a member of the Lone Star Conference.
• UIW has yet to play a Division I opponent this season, but the Cardinals outshot their first two foes a combined 48.9 percent to 33.8 percent overall and 48.6 percent to 36.6 percent from 3-point range. UIW has also gone to the line nearly three times as often as its foes, hitting 38 of 51 tries to 7 of 19 for opponents.
• UIW was founded in 1881 and was a women's college until 1970, one year after Princeton became coeducational. UIW is the largest Catholic university in Texas.
• UIW's football, soccer and track and field stadium is named for Gayle and Tom Benson, the owner of the NFL's New Orleans Saints and the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.
• UIW senior Denzel Livingston was named second-team All-Southland Conference last year and was one of five players named to the league's all-defensive team. He leads the team this year with an average of 22.0 ppg, just ahead of teammate Kyle Hittle at 21.0 ppg.
• UIW was 21-6 last year overall and 9-5 in conference. The Cardinals had just one Division I non-conference opponent, with North Texas dealing the team a 84-67 defeat. The team has six D-I non-league opponents this season including Princeton, with UTEP, Nebraska, Grand Canyon, UMKC and Tulsa to come.

Mitch Henderson '98 is in his third season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 59-34.
Under Henderson, Princeton is 31-8 at home, 28-14 in the Ivy League, and 18-3 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 46-11 when leading at the half under Henderson.
Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first three campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Luehring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04).
Henderson is in ninth place on the Princeton all-time wins list, with predecessor Sydney Johnson '97 in eighth with 66 wins over four seasons.
Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95.
Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, current San Diego Padre Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14.
Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield).
Prior to Princeton, Henderson coached at Northwestern for 11 seasons under his final head coach at Princeton, Bill Carmody, from 2000-11.
