Bell Named Men's Basketball Ivy League Rookie of the Week
December 01, 2014 | Men's Basketball
Princeton freshman Amir Bell averaged 11.3 points per game over the Tigers' three-game trip to the Wooden Legacy in California, and his play has earned him the honor of being the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for men's basketball.
It is the first such award for Bell and the first of the year for Princeton, either Player or Rookie of the Week. The last Tiger to earn the rookie weekly honor was Spencer Weisz, who was a four-time Ivy Rookie of the Week last season.
Bell reached double figures in points for the first time as a Tiger against Incarnate Word last Saturday and kept the streak going during Princeton's first two games in California against UTEP and San Diego, chipping in 10 and then 17 points.
He has a 13 to 6 assist-to-turnover ratio on the season, helping that with five assists and just a single turnover during the Wooden Legacy. Princeton lost to UTEP and San Diego but rebounded with a win over San Jose State to close the trip.
Princeton will return to the court Wednesday night at Fairleigh Dickinson.
