May 22, 2014 | Men's Basketball
A group of men's basketball alumni are playing in an event called The Basketball Tournament in Philadelphia in early June, and their path in the event was announced May 22.
The team roster includes soon-to-be graduates Jimmy Sherburne, T.J. Bray and Will Barrett, Ian Hummer '13, Brendan Connolly '13, Douglas Davis '12, Dan Mavraides '11, Kareem Maddox '11, Pawel Buczak '10 and Alex Okafor '09. The roster features eight members of the 2011 team that came within two points of eventual Final Four team Kentucky, with four players among them who scored 1,000 points in their Princeton careers.
The event, which is unaffiliated with any university or collegiate program, features 32 teams who often share a common alma mater or home area. The group of Tiger alums, called PUBB Champions Tour, will start play against a team called St. Anthony, which counts Jersey City, New Jersey as its home base. The team lists former NBA veteran and 1993 Los Angeles Clippers first-round pick Terry Dehere as its general manager, or team organizer.
The tournament is set to play its first four rounds June 6-8 at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia. The event's Web site can be found here.
