Princeton looked headed to 4-1 in the Ivy League past the midway point of the second half, but the Big Red had other ideas. After Princeton led by as many as 13 points, Cornell closed a 52-40 deficit by scoring 22 straight points, keeping Princeton silent for seven minutes. By the time the drought was over, Princeton trailed by nine at 62-53 with just over a minute to go. Neither team shot 40 percent from the field, but Cornell outdid Princeton there 39.5 percent to 32.7 percent and outrebounded the Tigers 36-29. |

• Friday night's game will mark Princeton's first game on the American Sports Network, which will televise the game on affiliate stations throughout the country. The full list can be found here. In New Jersey, the game will be shown on SNY and The Comcast Network Philadelphia.
• The next win for Mitch Henderson '98 will move him past John Thompson III '88 for seventh place on Princeton's all-time coaching wins list as each now has 68 wins. Thompson was Henderson's assistant coach for Henderson's final three years as a player at Princeton. Two years after Henderson graduated, Thompson succeeded Bill Carmody as Princeton's head coach and remained there for four seasons. He'll have a way to go to catch his former coach and bench-mate at Northwestern, Bill Carmody, who won a sixth-best 92 games at Princeton.
• Princeton's home winning streak against Brown, which lasted from 1929-2002, ranks as the second-longest streak in terms of number of victories in NCAA history. Only North Carolina's home win streak over Clemson, which stands at 57 games and counting, is longer.
• Princeton is 58-5 all-time against Brown in Princeton, with the only losses coming in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Brown is 5-7 against Princeton in Jadwin since ending the 52-game road losing streak in 2003.
• Half the Ivy League has made NCAA men's basketball tournament in the last eight years, and half has had a much longer wait. The more recent half includes Penn (2007), Cornell (2010), Princeton (2011) and Harvard (2014). Both of this weekend's visitors aim to end longer waits, including Brown (1986) and Yale (1962), as well as Columbia (1968) and Dartmouth (1959).
• According to the NCAA record book, when Princeton faces Yale Saturday, it'll continue what is the longest streak in NCAA history for uninterrupted rivalries. Yale has faced Princeton, as well as Columbia, for 114 seasons counting 2014-15.
• Princeton has 99 all-time wins against Brown. If the Tigers win, Brown will become the last Ivy League team that Princeton has defeated 100 times.
• Harvard, Yale and Princeton are the only Ivy League teams with two or fewer losses, and although the Tigers missed a chance to better its position thanks to Cornell's comeback Saturday night, Princeton still has two games against one-loss Yale and one visit to Harvard to make up ground. The Tigers are 1 1/2 games behind both Yale and Harvard entering the weekend and one back in the loss column.
• Amir Bell enters the weekend leading Princeton in assists, with 60. The last time a Princeton freshman ended the season leading Princeton in assists was in 2006-07, when Marcus Schroeder '10 had a team-best 87 helpers.
• Friday night's game will match two of the three Ivy coaches who are coaching their alma mater with Princeton's Mitch Henderson and Brown's Mike Martin. The other is Penn's Jerome Allen. Of the trio, only Henderson and Allen overlapped playing days, Allen's last and Henderson's first season in 1994-95.
• It sounds simple enough, but when the Tigers win, they've made shots, defended and gotten to the free throw line. Princeton has not done those things as well in losses. In wins, Princeton shoots .486 from the field and allows opponents .427, makes 10 3-pointers (.427) and allows 4.5 (.281), and averages 17 of 23 from the line while opponents average 10 of 15 from the free throw line. In losses, Princeton shoots .413 from the field but allows .448, makes eight 3-pointers and hits at a .350 clip while allowing seven but at a .467 clip, and averages 13 of 18 from the line while opponents average 21 of 28.
• The Tigers take 48 percent of their field goals from beyond the arc and has taken 500 total 3-point attempts this year. A year ago, Princeton rolled past the previous record of 681, set by Mitch Henderson's senior-year team in 1998, hoisting 774 3s last season.
• The Tigers have turned the ball over fewer times than their opponents in nine of the last 10 games after doing so only five times in the first 11 games. Perhaps not coincidentally, Princeton is 7-3 in the last 10 games after a 3-8 start.
• Princeton has made more 3-pointers than its opponent in 12 of the last 14 games after doing so in just two of the first seven games. The Tigers were 2-5 over the first seven, 8-6 over the last 14. Princeton has made at least 10 3-pointers in seven of the last 14 games after doing so in only one of the first seven games.
• The change in year has been a positive change for the Tigers during Mitch Henderson's tenure. In the pre-New Year portion of Henderson's four seasons, the Tigers have a record of 27-25 for a .519 winning percentage. From New Year's Day forward, the Tigers under Henderson are 41-18 with a .695 winning percentage.
• Princeton swept Brown and Yale in the teams' last meeting, Feb. 28-Mar. 1, 2014 in Jadwin Gym. The Tigers will look much different this time, as Princeton returns 35 of 69 points from the last Brown game and 31 of 57 points from the last Yale game. T.J. Bray '14 led Princeton in scoring both times. Bray, who played with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Summer League last summer, is now with Pallacanestro Trapani in Sicily in Serie A2 Gold, Italy's second division.
• Princeton leads the Ivy in field goal percentage (.447), 3-point FG% (.386), 3s per game (9.2), turnover margin (+1.05/game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1), and defensive rebounding percentage (.739).
• Princeton's probable starting lineup includes no seniors, but junior Hans Brase, sophomores Steven Cook, Spencer Weisz and Pete Miller, and freshman Amir Bell. Brown is almost as young, starting three sophomores (Hobbie, Blackmon, Spieth), junior Cedric Kuakumensah and senior Rafael Maia. Yale, however, is not, starting three seniors (Cotton, Duren, Townsend) and two juniors (Montague, Sears).
• Princeton is 10-6 when scoring 28 points by halftime and 0-5 when it does not. The Tigers are 7-2 when scoring at least 69 points and 2-9 when they do not. The Tigers are 9-3 when holding opponents below 67 points but 1-8 when foes reach 67.
• Princeton is 10-3 when holding opponents below 41 percent from 3-point range and 0-8 when opponents make at least 41 percent of their 3-point tries.
• The Tigers are 8-2 when getting at least 13 turnovers from opponents and 2-9 when opponents turn the ball over fewer than 13 times.
• Through Monday's games, Princeton ranked 13th in the nation in 3s per game at 9.2. The team ranked in the national top 100 in eight statistical categories, with its next-highest ranking at 30th in total 3s made (193) and fewest turnovers (252). Between them, Hans Brase, Pete Miller, Spencer Weisz and Steven Cook are included in the national rankings (approximately the national top 250 players in each category) 14 times. Hans Brase has the highest ranking, at 50th in defensive rebounds per game (5.9), while Steven Cook is also in the top 100 with a 73rd-best 1.85 steals per game.
• Five of Princeton's top six scorers on average are non-seniors, including sophomore Spencer Weisz, junior Hans Brase, freshman Amir Bell and sophomores Steven Cook and Pete Miller. The last time the Tigers finished the season with no seniors among the top five in scoring was 2009-10, when sophomore Douglas Davis, junior Dan Mavraides, freshman Ian Hummer, junior Kareem Maddox and sophomore Patrick Saunders were in the top five.
• While Ben Hazel has experienced a resurgence lately on the court, leading Princeton at 15.5 ppg last weekend, seniors have accounted for just 17.1 percent of minutes and 15.9 percent of the points this season on the whole.
• Sophomore Spencer Weisz is leading the team in scoring at 12.1 ppg, 15 points in front of junior Hans Brase. The last sophomore (or younger) to end the season leading the team in scoring was in the 2009-10 season when Douglas Davis '12 averaged 12.7 ppg. Since: Kareem Maddox '11 in 2010-11, Ian Hummer '13 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and T.J. Bray '14 in 2013-14.
• In 58 Ivy League seasons, Princeton has posted 52 winning Ivy seasons, four 7-7 finishes and just two losing records.
![]() |
• Brown entered Ivy League play with a 9-8 record but lost its first five league games before getting a win over Dartmouth Saturday. Yale did the opposite in Ivy play, starting 5-0 before losing 52-50 to Harvard last time out.
• Brown is 0-7 when it is held to 28 points or fewer by halftime. The team is 1-11 when scoring 66 points or fewer in a game.
• Brown is just 3-13 when shooting below 45.5 percent from the field, and the Bears are 5-13 when hitting below 41.9 percent of their 3-point tries.
• Brown's opponents are 10-3 when reaching 31 points by halftime and 3-7 when scoring 30 or fewer.
• Brown has allowed 70+ points 10 times on the season and is 2-8 in those games.
• Though Princeton averages nine 3-pointers per game, Brown has allowed that many only twice, both losses to New Hampshire and Columbia. Opponents are 12-2 when making at least 1/3 of their 3-point tries against the Bears.
• Brown sophomore Tavon Blackmon is averaging 12.0 ppg over the last 14 games after averaging 7.4 over the team's first nine games, two of which he missed. Blackmon is averaging 5.2 apg over the last 13 games after averaging 2.6 over the team's first 10 games.
• The Bears have been without Leland King, their leading scorer on the season, since he scored 18 points in the Ivy opener against Yale. Brown announced on Jan. 29 that King is no longer with the team. Sophomore JR (Norman) Hobbie has been starting in King's place the last two weekends.
• Brown is tops in the Ivy in rebounding offense, at 37.0 rpg, and in defensive rebounds, at 26.2 rpg, thanks in large part to Rafael Maia, who enters the weekend tied with Cornell's Shonn Miller atop the Ivy at 8.0 rpg. Maia also leads the Ivy in offensive rebounds, at 3.3 orpg, and FG percentage at .551. Teammate Cedric Kuakumensah leads the league in blocks at 2.6 bpg.
• Through Monday's games, Brown was in the national top 100 in seven statistical categories, led by a 30th-best 26.2 defensive rebounds per game. Between JR Hobbie, Steven Spieth, Tavon Blackmon, Cedric Kuakumensah and Rafael Maia, the team had 20 top-250 individual entries, led by Kuakumensah's 25th-best 2.6 blocks per game.
• When Yale has 30 points by halftime, the Bulldogs are 10-2. When they don't, the Bulldogs are 6-5. Similarly, Yale is 10-3 when scoring at least 67 points and 6-4 when not.
• Just four teams have scored 33 points by halftime against Yale, but those teams are 4-0. Teams surpassing 66 points are 5-0 against the Bulldogs.
• Yale has allowed nine or more 3-pointers, Princeton's per-game average, just four times this season and still went 3-1 in those games.
• Yale is No. 1 in the Ivy in scoring offense (69.1 ppg), rebounding margin (+5.7 rpg), assists (14.2 apg), offensive rebounds (12.0 orpg) and offensive rebounding percentage (.360). Yale's Jack Montague leads the league in 3FG percentage (.469).
• Through Monday's games, Yale was in the top 100 nationally in 13 statistical categories, led by the team's 27th-best +5.7 rpg rebounding margin. Individually, Justin Sears, Javier Duren and Jack Montague combined for 18 top-250 rankings, led by Sears' 31st-best 2.5 blocks per game.

| Mitch Henderson '98 is in his fourth season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 68-43. Under Henderson, Princeton is 38-10 at home, 31-16 in the Ivy League, and 20-4 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 54-14 when leading at the half under Henderson. Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first three campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Luehring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04). Henderson is in seventh place on the Princeton all-time wins list, even with John Thompson III '88 at 68 wins, also in four seasons. Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95. Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, current San Diego Padre Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14. Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield). Prior to Princeton, Henderson coached at Northwestern for 11 seasons under his final head coach at Princeton, Bill Carmody, from 2000-11. |
