Men's Track & Field Wins 10 Events and Claims Quad Victory

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/11/15) - The Princeton men's track & field team won the Quad Meet this afternoon, defeating Rutgers, Monmouth and Vermont at Weaver Stadium.
The Tigers won 10 events, including: the 800, 3000, 110 hurdles, 4x100 Relay, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and hammer.
Princeton earned 93 points, with Monmouth second with 68, followed by Vermont with 31 and Rugters with 15.
The Tigers went 1-2-3-4, earning all 11 points up for grabs in the 3000. Senior Mike Mazzaccaro finished in 8:25.41, followed by junior Michael Sublette at 8:26.31. Senior Matt McDonald just edged senior Sam Pons at the finish for third place and a time of 8:28.08. Pons was fourth at 8:28.63.
Senior Rob Mohr and junior Greg Caldwell took first and second in the 110-meter hurdles. Mohr took Caldwell by a nose, 14.46 to 14.49. Senior Tom Scott and junior Jordan Myers claimed three points in the 400 hurdles, placing third and fourth at 54.77 and 55.04, respectively.
Another 1-2 punch came in the 800. Senior Bradley Paternostro clocked 1:52.81 for first place, while freshman Noah Kauppila was second at 1:53.06.
Freshman Carrington Akosa and junior John Hill were separated by two hundreths of a second in the 100. Akosa clocked 10.75 for second place, while Hill posted a 10.88 for third. Akosa earned a second second-place finish in the 200 at 22.02. Sophomore Brent Albertson took third at 22.17. Hill and Albertson were joined by Dre Nelson and Jake Scinto in the 4x100 relay. The relay clocked 41.79 for the win.
The wins kept coming in the field events.
Freshman Mitchel Charles won both the shut put and the discus. In the shot put, Charles threw to 17.66 (57-11.25) on his final attempt, though his throw of 17.39 on his third attempt would have won him the event. In the discus it was his second throw of 51.21 (168) that gave him the victory.
The Tigers went 1-2-4 in the hammer with sophomore Vic Youn claiming the victory with a throw of 55.04 (189-7). Senior Jake Taylor was the runner-up at 54.92 (180-2), while Gabe Arcaro was fourth at 53.57 (175-9).
Princeton won both the long and triple jump. Junior Jake Scinto launched himself to 7.09 on his fourth attempt to win the long jump, while freshman Lane Russell leapt to 14.43 on his final attempt to win the triple.
Freshman August Kiles took the win in the pole vault, with sophomore Ben Gaylord taking second pace. Kiles cleared 4.85 (15-11) on his second attempt, while Gaylord reached 4.55 (14-11).
Other scorers include: Josh Freeman in the 400, Colin Reilly third in the high jump, Sam Berger third in the 1500, Kenan Farmer fourth in the 1500, Scott Rushton third in the shot put.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (4/11/15) - Senior Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi was third in the triple jump at the Tennessee Relays this afternoon.
Owusu-Nyantekyi jumped to 15.13 for third place. He was in fourth place after the second round with a 14.75. He became just the third jumper to reach 15 meters on his next attempt, hitting 15.08. Sitting in third place, Nana fouled on his next two jumps before making up for it big time in his final attempt, reaching 15.13 (49-7.75).
Classmate Adam Bragg competed in the pole vault and finished 12th clearing 5.11.
