Edwards, Brase, Wilson Earn Team Honors at Men's Basketball Banquet
April 23, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Daniel Edwards, Hans Brase and Clay Wilson earned the team's three annual awards as the Princeton men's basketball team held its banquet Wednesday afternoon in Jadwin Gym.
The annual event capped the team's sixth straight winning overall season and seventh straight winning Ivy campaign. Princeton wrapped its season with a victory over Penn in The Palestra, extending the season-ending winning streak to four games.
Edwards won the Paul Richard Friedman '81 Award, which is given in memory of Paul Richard Friedman '81 to the player who does his very best every day in every way. Edwards, a part of the 2010-11 Ivy League Championship team, finished his Tiger career this season and made the most of a start on senior night against Columbia, going 2 for 2 from the field with a 3-pointer in four minutes of play. In his final appearance, he went 2 for 2 from the free throw line at Penn to contribute in his last game as a Tiger.
Hans Brase won the B.F. Bunn Trophy, which is given in memory of B. Franklin Bunn 1907 to the player who in play, sportsmanship and influence has contributed most to the sport. Brase, who will be a senior in the fall, is the first non-senior to win the award since Dan Mavraides '11 in 2010. Brase's 11.5 points per game were second on the team while he grabbed a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game and shared the team lead in 3-pointers with Spencer Weisz at 51.
Wilson wrapped his Princeton career by winning the Class of 1959 Bob Rock Sixth Man Award, which is presented in memory of Bob Rock '59 to the player whose energy, effort and enthusiasm made an invaluable contribution to the season. Wilson finished fifth on the team in scoring at 6.7 points per game, leading the senior class, and he was one of four players on the team with 40 or more 3-pointers, hitting 42. Wilson finished the season strong, scoring in double figures in five of his last seven games.
