Hummer '13 Heads to Summer League Camp with Sacramento Kings
July 02, 2015 | Men's Basketball
With two seasons of overseas basketball to his credit, 2013 Ivy League Player of the Year Ian Hummer '13 will compete to play stateside as he heads to the Sacramento Kings' NBA Summer League Mini-Camp.
Hummer is one of 16 names on the mini-camp roster, which the Kings announced June 30. Sacramento's entry in the Las Vegas Summer League will open play Friday, June 10 for the first of at least three games in Nevada. Hummer played against one of his fellow mini-camp attendees while at Princeton, when he and Kentucky alum DeAndre Liggins matched up in the Tigers' 59-57 near-miss in the NCAA Round of 64 in 2011.
Hummer wrapped his Princeton career two seasons ago as the program's second-leading scorer all-time with 1,625 points. He was a three-team All-Ivy League honoree, making the first team in each of his final two seasons while earning Ivy Player of the Year honors as a senior. That helped launch Hummer toward a summer-league tryout with the Los Angeles Lakers two years ago before embarking on a career in Europe.
In his first season out of Princeton, hummer played with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany's top league before heading to Finland to play with Bisons Loimaa this past season. Hummer averaged 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, both third on the team as Loimaa pushed the Finnish League finals to a decisive fifth game.
