Bray '14, Enjoying Successful Italian Pro Career, Visits Men's Hoops
January 08, 2016 | Men's Basketball
T.J. Bray '14, a second-year pro in Italy, returned to campus today to visit with the Princeton men's basketball team ahead of Saturday's Ivy League opener at Penn.
Bray, whom GoPrincetonTigers.com caught up with in July, plays with Novipiu Casale in northwestern Italy, part of the Serie A2 league, the second-highest league in Italian pro basketball. Bray is leading the team with 15.3 points per game, is a close third with 3.1 assists a contest and averages a fourth-best 3.7 rebounds a game.
Novipiu Casale stands 9-7 on the season and in fifth place in the 16-team West division with a 10-day break between games until the season resumes Jan. 17.
Bray played last season with Lighthouse Trapani in Sicily, also in the Serie A2 league, in his first year out of Princeton. The Milwaukee-area native has taken part in the NBA Summer League in each of the last two years, first with Toronto in 2014 and then with the New York Knicks this past summer.
While at Princeton, Bray was a three-year starter after playing in all 32 games in his rookie year, the Ivy League title season of 2011. He finished with 1,024 career points after scoring 468 as a senior, posting an 18.0 point-per-game average that was the program's highest season-ending clip since 1972.
Bray was a two-time All-Ivy League honoree, earning second-team honors as a junior before being a unanimous first-team pick as a senior. He finished third in program history in career assists, which has been kept since the 1974-75 season, with 374.
