Three Different Tigers Score as No. 11 Princeton Conquers Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three different Tigers scored as the No. 11 Princeton field hockey team bested the Yale Bulldogs, 3-0, at Johnson Field on Saturday afternoon. The reigning Ivy League champions are now 6-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Senior Hailey Reeves registered her seventh career goal while freshmen Maddie Bacskai and Carlotta von Gierke secured their first collegiate tallies. Sophomore Grace Baylis made four saves in the win.
Princeton had its first scoring threat in the eighth minute as senior Cat Caro had back-to-back shots denied off a corner. Bacskai forced Yale's goalie Emilie Katz to make consecutive saves a few minutes later. In the 26th minute, freshman Krista Hoffman found some open room and blasted a shot towards the goal that created a big rebound that couldn't be corralled by any of her teammates.
Right before the end of the first half, Princeton was awarded its fifth corner and got on the board….
As the second half got underway, Yale went on the attack, but Baylis made a big stop to keep the home team off the scoreboard. In the 45th minute, the Tigers executed on a corner and it looked like this…
Five minutes later, von Gierke picked up a loose ball and deposited it in the back of the net…
The Bulldogs picked up their offensive pace over the last 12 minutes, taking seven shots, but couldn't not get one past Baylis or the Tigers' stout defense. Princeton collected its second straight Ivy League shutout.
