Lund Scores Pair, Leads Women's Hockey To ECAC, Ivy-Opening Win At Brown

Sophomore Karlie Lund scored twice and assisted on the game-winning goal, while junior Alysia DaSilva shut the Bears down with 22 saves, as the Princeton women's hockey team opened both ECAC and Ivy League play with an impressive 4-0 win at Brown.
Princeton improved to 3-0, with each of its three wins coming in Providence. The Tigers swept the Friars last weekend, with Lund scoring twice during the opening pair. She matched that output in the second period Friday night, including a spectacular finish (see tweet below) off a pass from Audrey Potts that opened a 3-0 lead. Lund also assisted on Claire Thompson's power-play goal 4:04 into the game that gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish; it was the first career goal for Thompson, a Toronto native.
Keiko DeClerck added a third-period goal for insurance, though DaSilva and the Princeton defense didn't need it. Brown was limited to only 22 shots, including a mere six in the final period, and DaSilva turned them all away for her first shutout of the season.
Princeton will continue its first league weekend Saturday at 3 pm when it heads to Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn., to take on Yale. Princeton, which leads the all-time series 60-14-2, swept both meetings last year, though the win at Ingalls was a tight 4-3 victory. Fiona McKenna scored the game winner in that early-season showdown with less than four minutes remaining in regulation.
