Bullock Scores Twice but Tigers Fall in OT to BU, 4-3
November 26, 2016 | Women's Ice Hockey
The Terriers leading goal scorer Mary Parker added her 15th of the season, scoring 37 seconds into overtime to lead Boston University to a 4-3 win over Princeton in women's hockey on Saturday.
Princeton had a 2-1 lead after the first period, and maintained a one-goal lead until the final five minutes of the third period when Abby Cook's first goal of the season forced overtime.
Rebecca Leslie put BU on the board at 4:26 of the first when the Terriers were quick to skate down the ice as a three-on-three developed. Leslie rifled a shot from the right circle to the blocker side of Steph Neatby and it deflected in off her pad.
Princeton gained the lead with goals by Karlie Lund and Carly Bullock 1:30 apart, as special teams had a hand in both goals.
Senior Cassidy Tucker attempted to clear the puck down the ice on the penalty kill with Kiersten Falck in the box for interference. Falck was sprung at just the right time as she picked up the puck and skated to the goal, whipping a shot on Victoria Hanson. The puck banged off Hanson's pads and out the right for Lund to knock in the rebound.
As sophomore Stephanie Sucharda and freshman Julia Edgar corralled the puck in the defensive end, Sucharda found Bullock on the right wing. She skated in as as she reached the dot of the right face-off circle, fired past the open glove of Hanson.
An unassisted goal by Maddie Elia at 12:53 knotted the game at 2-2 when she did the work behind the goal and wrapped it around.
Cook's goal was set up by Elia and also assisted by Samantha Sutherland. She rifled a shot from the high slot, through traffic and through a screened Neatby.
A two-on-one developed for BU in overtime as Parker nailed a pass from Victoria Bach.
Neatby, who was making her first career start stopped 34 shots as Princeton falls to 5-6-1 overall.
Hanson made 29 saves for BU, as the Terriers had a slight 38-32 edge in shots.
Princeton was 1 for 4 on the power play and 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.
The Tigers resume ECAC play next weekend with a trip to New York's capital region, to face Rensselaer and Union on Dec. 2 & 3.
