PRINCETON, N.J. (12/7/16) - The Princeton women's hockey team kick starts a six-game homestand this weekend when it hosts Mercyhurst in a pair of non-conference games. After having spent the last four games on the road, the Tigers will face off with the Lakers on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., at Hobey Baker Rink.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is 7-6-1 overall and coming off of a double shutout last weekend in league play to improve to 5-4-1 in the ECAC. Sophomore Karlie Lund led the nation in points last week with seven to boost her season total to 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists. Senior Kelsey Koelzer, who had a hat trick on Friday night, now has 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. Seniors Cassidy Tucker and Molly Contini are also in double digits in scoring. Junior Alysia DaSilva is 6-5-1 in goal with a 1.98 GAA and a .924 save percentage. Freshman Steph Neatby is 1-1 with a 1.69 GAA and a .944 save percentage. She was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Tuesday after recording her first career shutout in her second start, stopping 27 shots at Rensselaer.
PRINCETON/MERCYHURST SERIES
Princeton holds a one-game lead in the all-time series with Mercyhurst, 9-8-1. The Tigers swept the series last year when they opened the 2015-16 campaign in Erie, taking 3-2 and 2-1 victories.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst is 6-11-1 on the season and 3-5 in College Hockey America. They've played four ECAC hockey opponents already, in Quinnipiac, Cornell, Rensselaer and Colgate and posted a 3-5 record during those games. Junior Brooke Hartwick and senior Taylor Accursi both have scored seven goals. Hartwick adds nine assists to lead the team in points with 16, while Accursi has chipped in seven helpers for 14 points. Senior defender Jillian Skinner also has nine assists, while senior Megan Whiddon has 11 points. Junior Jessica Convery has started in 11 of 18 games, and has a 1.79 GAA and a .918 save percentage.
