"It was great space through the neutral zone and great work by the forwards to get the puck in deep and I thin that was the key," Koelzer said. "Moving the puck right up to Kimiko and the point and she noticed that my girl had gone back to the net front so she fed it right across and I was able to get a one-time shot on it."
The Tigers had a number of events and tables set up in the rink, including #14strong beanies, a silent jersey auction, chuck-a-puck and a bake sale with all proceeds going the Denna Laing Fund, in honor of former Princeton captain Denna Laing '14. Laing sent a message to the fans today at Hobey Baker Rink, which can be heard on the Princeton Athletics Facebook page.
"Denna's announcement gave me chills, and I'm sure it affected a lot of the kids,” Jeff Kampersal said about the emotion of today's game. “They didn't have a good first period,” he laughed. “After that they got better. Next weekend, we have a big weekend and need some more points to guarantee home and I think we'll probably see St. Lawrence again in a couple of weeks.”
Brooke Webster gave the Saints the early lead, convering on the first power-play opportunity of the game at 3:53. She tipped in a shot by Amanda Boulier after she played catch with Hannah Miller across the blue line.
St. Lawrence had the better of the chances in the first period, with shots sitting 18-7, but senior Kimberly Newell kept her team alive, in her 50th career victory.
The Tigers came out to play in the second and took a 2-1 lead with goals 3:07 apart. Freshman Keiko DeClerk tallied her third goal of the season after classmate Karlie Lund knocked down a Saint breakout at 1:35.

Jenna Marks knotted it a 2-2 at 14:40 of the second on a quick give-and-go with Justine Reyes.
Junior defender Molly Strabley let loose a rocket from the left point to regain the lead at 4:01 of the third, 3-2. Lund took a draw that was held to the left of Grace Harrison and cleanly won it back to Mariniacci. Marinacci slipped the puck across the blue line as Strabley wound up and fired.

The lead was shortlived however as Reyes evened the game again, less than three minutes later with help from Marks. Lydia Grauer pinched the puck in along the boards and left it for Marks. Marks cycled and found Reyes on the opposite boards, who split her defenders and toe dragged through the slot for the goal.
Newell finished the game with 36 saves and Harrison stopped 28 shots in the loss for St. Lawrence.
It was an excellent response by the No. 8 ranked Tigers after falling to No. 5 Clarkson last night in a one-goal game.
"We are resilient and our core word this year is relentless," Strabley said. "That is a great embodiment of our team and take that to heart and follow through on that. If anything it motivated us a lot. She is a great girl and fighting this with a hgue smile on her face and a ton of resilience. It was nice to go see here befor the Dartmouth game. That was more emotional than this, this was more of a celebration. She's been giving us good messages so it's good to have support from her. She's had our backs and we have hers.”
Princeton, now 20-6-1 on the season and 13-6-1 in the ECAC, closes out the regular season next weekend, Feb. 19 & 20, at home hosting Rensselaer & Union.
