Women's Hoops Remains Unbeaten at Home, Beats Columbia, 86-54

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton women's basketball team (17-4, 6-1 Ivy) continued its winning ways at home as it won its 23rd consecutive game at Carril Court with an 86-54 victory over the Columbia Lions (12-11, 1-7 Ivy) on Saturday evening.
Senior Michelle Miller led the team with 16 points on a stellar 7-of-10 (70 percent) shooting. She also dished out five assists and snagged two rebounds. Senior Annie Tarakchian just missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. Senior Alex Wheatley added a strong defensive outing with 13 rebounds, three blocks and three steals in the win. The recent 1,000-point club addition also tied her career high with five assists.
The Tigers used a 16-5 spurt to end the first quarter and take a 21-10 lead in to the second stanza. After the Lions got within three (27-24) at the 3:28 mark, the Tigers shut them out, scoring 11 straight points, taking a 38-24 advantage into halftime.
Much like last night, Princeton used a fantastic third quarter to put the game away. The Tigers made 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from the floor and held the Lions to just one made basket in the stanza to push their lead to 31.
