Cook Earns Ivy & Suburban Transit GoPrincetonTigers.com Weekly Honors
February 08, 2016 | Men's Basketball
Princeton junior Steven Cook erupted for 48 points over Princeton's weekend sweep, upping his season-best scoring total twice as the Tigers kept pace in the Ivy race with wins over Harvard and Dartmouth.
His performance has earned him the Ivy League's Co-Player of the Week honors as well as recognition as the SuburbanTransit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.
Cook scored 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting overall and 4 of 7 from beyond the arc against the Crimson, and then followed it up with 27 points on 10 of 15 shooting overall and 4 of 8 from distance against the Big Green. Cook also had seven assists and just two turnovers on the weekend.
The Ivy award is Princeton's second of the season along with Amir Bell's on Jan. 11, and it's the first-ever Ivy weekly award for Cook, who was a second-team All-Ivy League pick last season.
Cook shares this week's Ivy award with Yale's Justin Sears, who also helped his team to a 2-0 weekend.
Princeton, at 14-5 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy, will head to Columbia and Cornell this weekend as the Ivy League race hits the midway mark.
