• This was Princeton's sixth appearance in the NIT. The last two NIT appearances have ended with close finishes going against Princeton, including a 66-65 loss to Louisville in the 2002 first round.
• Junior Henry Caruso ended his season with 435 points, the most for a Tiger in a season in two years, since T.J. Bray ended his career with 468 points in 2013-14.
• Princeton came close to but didn't ultimately get to the program scoring record, which stands at 79.74 points in 1971-72. This team scored 79.1 points per game.
• This was the first meeting between Princeton and Virginia Tech and the second game for Princeton in Cassell Coliseum, which hosted the 1967 NCAA opener that saw Princeton beat West Virginia.
• Devin Cannady finished with 337 points, one more than Spencer Gloger for second place by a Tiger freshman in a season. First place belongs to Chris Young, who had 387 points in 1998-99.
• Cannady's three 3-pointers moved him past Brian Earl into second place on Princeton's list of 3-pointers by a freshman, 12 back of Gloger.
• Steven Cook's 22-point game saw him go 8 of 10 from 2-point range. The 22 points he scored marked the fifth time this season he's reached 20 points.
• Princeton hoisted 39 3-pointers, the most for any Virginia Tech opponent since VMI also tired 39 in a Dec. 22, 2014 game.
• Princeton's 39 3-pointers attempted were its most since the Tigers put up 43 against Kean Jan. 26, 2014, and were the most for the Tigers against a Division I opponent since hoisting 39 against Pacific on Dec. 20, 2013.
