First-Teamer Caruso Leads Three Tigers on All-Ivy Hoops Teams
March 09, 2016 | Men's Basketball
Junior Henry Caruso leads three teammates and classmates recognized on the Ivy League's all-conference teams announced Wednesday.
The teams, as voted by the coaches, had Caruso alongside Columbia senior Maodo Lo and the Yale trio of seniors Brandon Sherrod and Justin Sears and sophomore Makai Mason.
Caruso led the team on the regular season at 15.3 points per game, scoring 427 points to more than double his scoring total over his first two seasons at Princeton. Caruso was a .527 (148-281) shooter from the field and .468 (37-79) from beyond the arc while also leading the team in rebounding at 6.3 per game. The honor is Caruso's first All-Ivy League recognition.
Spencer Weisz picked up his second consecutive second-team All-Ivy League recognition after averaging 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while leading the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.9 helpers for every turnover. His 110 assists are 32 more than his previous season best of 78 set a year ago. Weisz has had an All-Ivy honor all three years, earning Rookie of the Year recognition two seasons ago.
Steven Cook also picked up an all-league honor for the second straight year as one of four players to earn honorable mention All-Ivy. Cook's 11.4 points per game is third on the team, and he ended the regular season strong by scoring double-figure points in six straight games, a career-best streak. Cook broke 20 points twice over the last six games with a high of 27 points last weekend at Dartmouth.
The complete list of All-Ivy League honorees is below. The Tigers, who wrapped their season Tuesday night with a win over Penn to stand at 22-6 overall and 12-2 in the Ivy, will await Sunday's selections for postseason tournaments.
