Women's Cross Country Begins New Era Saturday in the Bronx

The Princeton women's cross country team opens its new era under head coach Brad Hunt on Saturday when the team races in the Fordham Fiasco in Van Cortlandt Park. The race is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
The team is ranked No. 23 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason poll. The Tigers lost three scorers from last year including two of its top three scorers in Emily de La Bruyere and Kathryn Fluehr due to graduation. The team does get back Lizzie Bird, the 2015 Ivy League Heps champion and Megan Curham, the 2014 Ivy League Heps champion making another potent punch in the front. Brighie Leach is coming off of a great freshman season and will be joined by other veteran scorers Melinda Renuart, Ally Markovich and Natalie Rathjen. Six freshman add to the mix as well.
The last time Princeton competed at Van Cortlandt Park was at the 2016 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship when the Tigers took the title. It was in 2011, that the team last ran at the Fordham Fiasco, and took first place.
