Top-Ranked Harvard Defeats Princeton 8-1
January 15, 2017 | Women's Squash
The top-ranked Harvard women's squash team completed a big weekend in Ivy League play by picking up an 8-1 win over Princeton Sunday afternoon at the Jadwin Squash Courts.
The victory over the fourth-ranked Tigers, which came one day after a 7-2 win at second-ranked Penn, puts the Crimson in clear control of the Ivy League race. However, the Tigers know that they can get another shot at the Crimson on their home floor when the top teams in the country come to Jadwin next month for the Howe Cup team championships.
Princeton got an impressive victory from freshman Morgan Steelman, who dropped only one game in a 3-1 victory over Eleonore Evans at the No. 8 spot. Steelman capped a perfect weekend in her Ivy League debut with an 11-8 win in the fourth game.
Sophomore Samantha Chai, who overcame early-season injuries to get back in time for Ivy League play, picked up a game at the No. 6 spot, but Sue Ann Young won a trio of tight games to claim a 3-1 win.
Princeton will now break for Finals, but it will return to Jadwin Feb. 1 for a showdown against No. 2 Penn. Like all home matches, you can watch it live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
