EYE ON THE TIGERS
Under first-year head coach Cara Morey, Princeton looks to build upon its fifth 20-win season and a run to ECAC championship weekend from last year. The Tigers lost 43 percent of their scoring with the graduation of seven seniors, including All-America defender Kelsey Koelzer. Returning is the potent first line tandem of back-to-back ECAC Rookies of the Year junior Karlie Lund and sophomore Carly Bullock. Last year they combined for 41 goals and 33 assists. Five freshmen could bolster the offense and already showed firepower by scoring all three goals of the squad's goals in a 3-0 win over Team China on Monday in an exhibition contest. Backstopping the Tigers is the USCHO.com Rookie of the Year and ECAC Goalie of the Year Stephanie Neatby. Neatby posted a 12-5-1 record last year with a .950 save percentage and a 1.52 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence is 4-2 on the season, most recently splitting a series at Syracuse. The Friars have played three games against ECAC teams, and are 2-1 with wins over Union and Quinnipiac. Junior Christina Putigna has a team-high nine points on seven assists and two goals. Sophomore Meaghan Rickard and senior Brooke Boquist have three goals apiece. Junior Madison Myers has seen all action in net and has a .911 save percentage and a 1.84 GAA. Providence's power play is just 4 of 28 while its penalty kill is 19 of 21.
THE PRINCETON/PROVIDENCE SERIES
Providence holds a 44-10-4 edge in the all-time series thanks to a 29-game win streak that began the series in the 1980s. Last year, the Tigers took two games in their season opening weekend at Providence with 4-2 and 7-3 victories. Molly Contini '17 had five points in the series, while senior Kiersten Falck collected four assists. Junior Karlie Lund had a three-point weekend and finished +3 with the game-winner in game 1. Senior Alysia DaSilva made 49 stops on 54 shots in the series.
