After Big Opening Weekend, Women's Squash Makes Home Debut Against Williams Saturday
November 29, 2017 | Women's Squash
The Princeton women's squash team couldn't have asked for much more during its opening weekend, and it will try to keep that momentum going in its 2017-18 home debut Saturday afternoon against Williams College.
The Tigers entered the season ranked fourth in the CSA preseason poll, but they are likely to move up following last weekend's results, as they managed a Top-5 victory over Stanford one day after the Cardinal upset second-ranked Penn. The win over Stanford included an impressive 3-0 win for All-America senior Olivia Fiechter at the top of the lineup, but it also marked winning debuts for freshmen Raneem El Torky and Emme Leonard, both of whom add strength to the top and middle of the Tiger lineup.
Princeton went 3-0 on the weekend, which included three-victory performances from the likes of Kate Feeley and Madison Soukup. Feeley shared the team lead in victories last season with 14, including three during a wild Howe Cup weekend, while Soukup is now 12-1 in her Tiger career.
Williams comes into the weekend with a 2-1 record. Following a season-opening loss to Cornell, the Ephs had won matches over both Dickinson and Hamilton College.
All courts will be streamed live Saturday on the Ivy League Network, and you can get updates on Twitter by following @tigersquash1.
