Yale Recap - 1/14/17
- Behind Leslie Robinson's second straight double-double and third of the season, the Princeton Tigers used a fourth quarter rally to defeat the Yale Bulldogs, 74-62, at Jadwin Gym on Saturday evening.
- Robinson scored 16 points and set a career high with 15 rebounds and six assists. Freshman Bella Alarie added her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points, 10 rebounds along with three assists, a steal and block.
- The Tigers began the contest with six of the first eight points before an 8-2 spurt by the Bulldogs put them in front (10-8) for the first time at the 4:22 mark. The two teams went back and forth before the score settled at 15-all after 10 minutes.
- Princeton created some separation in the second frame as it rattled off seven consecutive points to take a 22-18 lead with 6:48 to go in the half. Tied at 24-all, the Bulldogs dropped in 14 of the next 18 points to take its largest lead of the contest, 36-28, as the clock ticked near a minute to go. The Tigers cut their deficit to four (36-32) as the teams headed into the locker room. The road squad went 14-of-29 (48.2 percent) from the floor and 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) from beyond the arc in the first half.
- After the Tigers registered the first two buckets for the second half, the Bulldogs secured five straight to take a 43-38 lead with 8:12 remaining in the third quarter. Princeton responded to get back within one (48-47), but Yale snagged eight of the last 10 points of the frame to lead 56-49.
- Back-to-back treys and a jumper from Weledji sent the Tigers back in front, 57-56, just 2:22 into the final stanza. After the Ivy League rivals exchanged the lead four times over a one minute span, The Tigers put the clamps down on defense as it held the Bulldogs to one basket over the last 6:09 game action. During that stretch, Yale went 1-of-9 while Princeton was 3-of-4 and made seven free throws to ice the game. For the quarter, the Tigers shot 77.8 percent, outscoring the Bulldogs, 25-6, along with pulling down nine more rebounds.
- Head coach Courtney Banghart's team leads the conference in lowest opponent's three-point field goal percentage (26.9).
- The Tigers also lead the Ivy League in offensive rebounds (15.3), total rebounds (44.2) and field goal attempts (64.4) per game.
- Princeton is second in rebounds per game (44.2) and offensive rebounds per contest (15.5).
- The Tigers sit second in steals (8.1), assists (15.3), opponent's scoring (58.3) and home attendance average (693).
- Junior Leslie Robinson is second in the Ivy in field goal percentage (52.8).
- Junior Tia Weledji is fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0)
- Robinson is eight in offensive rebounds per games (2.5) while sophomore Sydney Jordan is 10th (2.3).
- Sophomore Gabrielle Rush is seventh in three-point field goals per game (1.9).
- Senior Taylor Brown is 10th in steals per game (1.4).
- Against UMBC, head coach Courtney Banghart's team set a single-game record with 14 threes on 37 attempts.
- On Dec. 21 vs. Wagner, the Tigers broke the program record for points in a game, breaking the mark set against Portland State (104) on December 19th, 2014.
- Princeton also broke the single-game record for points in a quarter (34) and in a half with 60 during the first 20 minutes of game action.
- Banghart's squad was the 27th team this season to score over 100 points at the Division-I level.
- After beginning the season 0-4, the Tigers have upped their record to 7-5 with victories over Rutgers, UMBC, Seton Hall, Lafayette, Wagner, Lipscomb and Yale. Over the last 12 games, Princeton has held a scoring margin of +13.2 and are averaging 69.8 points per game.
- The team is dropping in 7.4 three-pointers per contest during that span.
- Tia Weledji, Taylor Brown, Gabrielle Rush and Carolina Davis are shooting at least 35 percent from deep in the team's last nine games.

- Her seven blocks vs. Brown on Jan. 13 were the highest for a single game by a freshman in program history.
- Alarie has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week five times and the conference Co-Player of the Week twice.
- She is believed to be the first-ever freshman in Ivy history to be named Player of the Week twice and the second rookie.
- She is fourth in the Ivy League in blocks per game, sixth in rebounds per contest, ninth in assists-to-turnover ratio (1.8), 12th in scoring.
- Princeton is 10th nationally in rebounds per game (44.2).
- Banghart's squad is 13th in opponent's three-point field goal percentage (26.9).
- For the first time ever, the Ivy League will feature a four-team tournament for the 2016-17 season. The tournament will both be held over the same two competition days, March 11 and 12, at The Palestra in Philadelphia.
- The format for each tournament will be two semifinal games on the first day (Saturday) with the No. 1 seed playing the No. 4 seed and the No. 2 seed playing the No. 3 seed, followed by the championship game played the next day (Sunday). The tournaments' winners will receive the League's automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

- The Ivy League has announced the game times for the inaugural Ivy League Tournament as well as its additional TV package with ESPN and the American Sports Network.
- The men's basketball team will have a total of 10 games available on platforms beyond the ILDN and five ESPN3 simulcasts, the women's team will have six such games.

- After traveling to France and Africa in 2011, the Princeton women's basketball team flew to Australia this summer.
- The team departed on August 22nd and spent the first four days of the trip in Sydney and the final four days in Cairns, Queensland before leaving to come home on September 1st.
- In Sydney, Banghart's squad explored the Queen Victoria Building, Sydney Opera House and did the Sydney Bridge Climb. On the court, Princeton battled the Norths Bears and the Waratah League All-Stars.
- While in Cairns, the Tigers checked out the Rainforest Wildlife Park, went to the Aboriginal Cultural and Education Experience before conducting a youth clinch at the Yarrabah PCYC.
- The team also took on the Cairn Dolphins of the Queensland Basketball League. On the last day of the trip, the Tigers enjoyed the Great Barrier Reef and have the opportunity to snorkel and take in the spectacular coral and sea life.
- The Big Green lead the all-time series, 43-33.
- Princeton has won the last 14 contests, Dartmouth last scoring a victory in 2009.
- The Big Green last won against the Tigers on Feb. 21, 2009 (43-42), a span of 2,904 days.
- Kate Letkewicz leads the Big Green in scoring (11.4).
- Letkewicz is 21st in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (43.4). She is also 28th in Division I in minutes per game (36.6).

- Princeton head coach Courtney Banghart is a 2000 graduate of Dartmouth. She was a two-time All-Ivy first team player and is tied for the conference's all-time lead in career three-pointers (273).
- Harvard leads the all-time series, 40-38.
- The Tigers have won the last five matchups, Harvard last taking home a win in 2014.
- Harvard last swept the season series vs. Princeton during the 2008-09 campaign.

- After graduating last season, Annie Tarakchian signed a contract with BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket, a team from Switzerland.
- Blake Dietrick '15 is currently playing for Bendigo Bank Spirit in Australia. Earlier this year, Dietrick was named to the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) Seattle Storm's opening night roster.
- Dietrick is the first Princeton women's basketball player ever to make a WNBA opening night roster and the second Ivy League player. Harvard's Allison Feaster played for the Los Angeles Sparks (1998-2000), Charlotte Sting (2001-06) and the Indiana Fever (2008).
- Junior Leslie Robinson is the daughter of Princeton alumnus Craig Robinson, who is one of only two men's players in program history to twice be named Ivy League Player of the Year. Her aunt Michelle Robinson (Michelle Obama) graduated from Princeton in 1985 and is currently the First Lady of the United States and the wife of President Barack Obama.
- Sophomore Qalea Ismail is the daughter of Qadry "The Missle" Ismail, who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with her uncle Raghib "Rocket" Ismail, who played for nine seasons.
- Jordan Muhammad's father, Muhsin, played 14 seasons in the NFL, for the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.
- Freshman Bella Alarie's dad, Mark, was drafted in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft and played for five seasons in the NBA.
- Freshman Taylor Baur's dad, Turner, played in the NFL for the New England Patriots.
