The Princeton women's cross country team heads to Lehigh for the 44th annual Paul Short Run on Friday, Set. 29 on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
The Tigers won the Brown 6k race last year, the only team in double digits with a score of 44, with their top three scorers in the top 10. Their other four runners all claimed positions in the top 15.
This year the Tigers will run in the Gold 6k race at 11:45 a.m., the fourth race of the afternoon. Four nationally-ranked squads will also compete in the Gold race, marked by two of Princeton's competitors in the region in Villanova (15) and Georgetown (23). Utah State (21) and Mississippi State (24) will also run.
Princeton has won the Paul Short twice, in 2006 and 2007.
Thus far this season, the Tigers won the HYP race on Sept. 15, and had its middle distance take second at the Fordham Fiasco. Against Harvard and Yale, the Tigers had all five scorers in the top 10, led by junior Brighie Leach. She was followed by freshmen Sophie Cantine and Melia Chittenden. Juniors Allie Klimkiewicz and Madison Offstein followed. Offstein was the top finisher at Fordham, placing second overall.
Championship season gets underway on Friday, Oct. 27 in Van Cortlandt Park with the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
