Cannady Named to Henson Award Midseason Watch List
January 11, 2018 | Men's Basketball
Princeton junior Devin Cannady, who is third in the Ivy League with a team-best 18.5 points per game, has been named to the midseason watch list for the Lou Henson Award, which honors the top mid-major player in Division I.
Cannady has scored in double figures in 14 of the team's 15 games this season, including seven games of 20 points or more. He's on a two-game run of those 20-point games, putting up 28, including 26 in the second half, at Hawai'i on Dec. 25 before scoring 21 at Penn on Jan. 6. The output during the Penn game moved him past the career 1,000-point mark, making him the 33rd Tiger to do so. He'll enter this weekend's games 32nd on Princeton's all-time scoring list at 1,018 points.
Cannady is on pace to surpass 500 points this season and would become the first Tiger since Ian Hummer '13 (515 in 2011-12) to score 500 a single campaign. He's already just the third Princeton junior in the last quarter-century to reach the 1,000-point mark, joining only Hummer and Douglas Davis '12 since Kit Mueller '91 did it in 1989-90.
The complete Henson Award list can be found here. Cannady and the Tigers will have their first full Ivy League weekend Friday and Saturday against Columbia (Fri., 8 p.m.) and Cornell (Sat., 7 p.m.) in Jadwin Gym.
